Volunteers are the key to the Ballantrae Newsletter
The Ballantrae newsletter is designed, written and edited by community volunteers. No one is paid for their efforts.
The same is true for those soliciting ads and preparing a few of them for inclusion in the newsletter. We only publish advertising sufficient to cover our print and distribution costs.
We need volunteer writers and photographers to contribute first-drafts of news about their village, groups and organizations, school and youth activities, adult social and sporting events and other clubs, organizations or activities in Ballantrae. (Click here for a tip sheet to help you prepare and submit articles ) We're interested in publishing just about anything you send us concerning life in Ballantrae: no story is too short or too long to be considered for inclusion. We also need your news about upcoming events to help you attract more members and participants. We also want to see photos (jpeg format saved at 300 dpi) of your community events or other photos you think represent life in Ballantrae. The sooner we receive your article and/or photos, the better changes of their publication!
Volunteer editors are needed to review stories, help edit them, or to contact writers for whatever additional information is needed to make the article more interesting to readers.
Volunteers are needs to help with advertising. Help can be as simple as volunteering to drop off advertising information to local businesses while your out shopping! We also need volunteers to respond to email inquiries about advertising. We also need volunteers with graphics and computer skills. A few of our smaller advertisers seek our assistance in preparing simple ads. That requires only basic graphic and computer skills to merge text and graphics, and save them at 300 dpi in press quality PDF or jpeg format at 300 dpi.
